NAACP forum to discuss accusations against New London

The New London Branch of the NAACP, in conjunction with the Connecticut State Conference of NAACP Branches, will host a public forum Feb. 21 to discuss recent allegations of civil rights violations in the city's police e departments. The forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church, 45 Broad St.

A panel of civil rights advocates and public officials will discuss alleged racial profiling, police misconduct and unfair hiring and promotional practices. The event is free and open to the public. In recent weeks, the city has been accused of  assaulting a man at a drug abuse facility, planting drugs on a suspect and checking the immigration status of a 2003 murder victim whose survivors are now suing the city.
