Windermere cop arrested amid racial profiling investigation

WINDERMERE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A Windermere Police officer was in jail Friday after being arrested on charges of official misconduct and threats to a public servant.
Jason Darnell was accused of racial profiling after a Florida Department of Law Enforcement criminal investigation, Police Chief Dave Ogden said. Another officer, Ryan Miller, has been suspended.
The FDLE says there are at least four victims -- three from Central Florida and another from out of state. None live in Windermere, officials said.
"I want the residents of Windermere to know this ends practices that are unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances," Ogden said.
The criminal investigation began in June 2012. Officer Alejandro Rivera reported his colleagues, and Darnell is accused of threatening Rivera for getting involved, Ogden said.
