HOUSTON – An off-duty law
enforcement officer was taken to a local hospital after officials said he
accidentally shot himself in the leg Saturday afternoon in southwest Houston.The
Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the officer was sitting in his personal
vehicle at the intersection of west Mt. Houston and Moonglow Road when his gun
went off. Officials did not say whether it was his personal or duty firearm
that fired. The officer was transported to a nearby hospital. His injuries were
not life-threatening, officials said.
